DIMAQ holders repeatedly stress the role of training and continuous updating of their knowledge and skills in the ever-evolving field of marketing. The benefits of obtaining a certificate which proves your digital proficiency are obvious, but taking part in the DIMAQ Academy which prepares you for the exam is just as important. As it turns out, it is not only an opportunity to broaden and systematize one’s knowledge. Marcin Karolak, Brand & Communication Strategist at Funktional, a professional with several years of experience in the industry, talks about his experience with DIMAQ.

How did you find out about the digital marketing qualification certificate and what made you decide to take the exam?

Marcin Karolak: Having worked in the industry for quite a while, I had known about the certificate for a long time. I also thought about taking the exam a few times until I finally put the plan into action, driven by the need to systematize, organise my knowledge – that’s why I decided to join the DIMAQ Professional Academy and then take the exam.

How do you think the certificate is perceived in the job market? Do you often come across DIMAQ in your business environment?

M.K.: It seems to me that when it comes to the Polish market, DIMAQ is considered an important “trophy” – and rightly so. It does prove the level of your proficiency in digital marketing as the scope of knowledge covered by the exam is quite extensive.

What would you recommend to those who are planning to take the exam? What should they focus on in particular when preparing for it?

M.K.: I think I would recommend a little humility at first. Initially, I thought of approaching the exam “off the cuff”, casually and spontaneously. But I would have failed if I had stuck to that idea. Even if you have worked many years in the industry, you may still not be specialised enough. Some learning won’t hurt – I am very happy with my experience with DIMAQ Professional Academy run by Jacek Szostak. You can also do it on your own. I have to say that what worked for me was a solid dose of external motivation, though.

How did you benefit from getting the certificate? What direction do you plan to further your career in?

M.K.: We live in an era of digital transformation – and 2020 has shown this to be true even more clearly. I work in the digital domain myself, so the path to certification has greatly influenced my perception of the opportunities and challenges that we can come across in the digital world. The scientific perspective, you know. 😉
